Promoting more accurate science representation in film and TV projects — and greater Black representation among scientists

Six scientists take multiple stages at California NanoSystems Institute for this November 2019 episode of “Science Speed Dating,” offering snappy, incisive glimpses into their work (asteroids, marine microbes, Black AI …) and reflecting on broader implications of their research in a Q&A session led by Afrofuturist Podcast host Ahmed Best.
“Science Speed Dating” is presented regularly by the Science & Entertainment Exchange, a program of the National Academy of Sciences, to Hollywood creatives to improve the accuracy of science representation in television and film projects. Fathomers was pleased to co-present the event for the second time, this time alongside the Afrofuturist Podcast, California NanoSystems Institute, and UCLA Art|Sci Center.
